Wellington Medical Herbalist Maree Murphy has been flooded with requests for advice and products to boost people’s immune systems since the arrival of Covid-19 in New Zealand.
She’s had a fifty percent increase in business and the calls are still coming in.
People are asking me what can I do to improve my Health to prevent getting Covid-19,” she said.
Maree, who has a Bachelor of Science as well as being a registered Medical Herbalist, says Covid-19 is an ‘enveloped virus’ which means the best herbs to boost your immune system are the anti-viral herbs such as Echinacea, St John’s Wort and Elderflower.
She makes a Herbal tincture (herbs in a liquid form) of these three herbs as well as pure Echinacea tea. All of these have been popular and some people have bought a bottle of each for each member of their household she said.
Enquiries are coming from all age groups and both existing and new clients.
Maree, who organically grows many of the herbs she uses in her practice “Heavenly Herbs”, is passionate about helping people take control of their own health through learning about nutrition, herbs, exercise and lifestyle.
Her key tips for beating Covid-19 and staying healthy in general are: eat lots of vegetables and fruit, drink lots water, exercise daily, ditch the sugar and use immune building and Antiviral Herbs and Herb teas.
She also says we should keep in contact with others by Phone or Internet, care for others and trust God.
Maree, who is mother to nine adult children, was interested in herbs for 30 years before starting Heavenly Herbs 11 years ago. She also has a post-graduate diploma in natural fertility.
